Houses, Bungalows & Cottages for Sale and to Rent Orlestone.
Welcome to property in Orlestone, a very small hamlet set just outside Hamstreet, near Ashford, in Kent.
Orlestone’s history is greater than its size and this is reflected in its own medieval church, St Mary the Virgin. Today, Orlestone is made up from a handful of cottages and houses and an abundance of open countryside, woodland and Orlestone Forest. It is a National Nature Reserve and some areas are Sites for Special Scientific Interest.
More recently, Hamstreet’s newest housing estate has been name Orlestone View to commemorate this medieval parish.
Orlestone is a great base for walking: Greensands Way passes through it and the small village is wrapped by fields and countryside. Being a home to Kent’s buzzards, Orlestone offers a place for bird-watching and nature-admiring. Its forest trails offer dog walkers, ramblers, runners, horse-riders and mountain-bikers spectacular scenery too.
With easy access to Ashford and its amenities, owing to its setting around the main road from Ashford to Hamstreet, Orlestone may well be remote but it offers its residents the ease of town-life living following a short journey. And, for the contemplative, Orlestone is on a hill with views over the marsh.
Orlestone is simply … stunning.
