Houses & Flats for Sale and to Rent in Singleton, Ashford, Kent.
Begun in the 1980s, Singleton is a development in the suburbs of south Ashford bordering Ashford’s countryside. Singleton is home to part of Ashford’s Green Corridor, a collection of preserved and conserved features nearby the River Stour aiming to maintain areas for wildlife, nature and the community. Singleton Lake is found in the centre of Singleton and offers a wonderful and peaceful place to walk. On the edge of Singleton is the new Singleton Environment Centre, an environmental retreat offering conservation education, fitness and arts and good locally sourced organic food in its cafe, Footprints.
Singleton’s amenities do not end there. Singleton’s Centre is not only where Stevens and Co. are to be found; there is also a convenience store, a pharmacy, a hairdresser’s, a doctor’s and a dentist’s. Singleton Tandoori and Singleton Fish and Chip shop are also here, making residents’ take-out food variety rich.
Singleton Barn is a very popular pub with its restaurant providing very good food; and, its regular fundraising activities and events are promoted and enjoyed within the community.
The Singleton community is a popular one. Being a very varied development: from executive and prestigious detached houses over-looking the lake to modern penthouse apartments, Singleton caters for a whole variety of residents. Adding to this is its brilliant location for families. With a play-park, a variety of greens and an abundance of safe and quiet cul-de-sacs, Singleton is great for children. Not forgetting the ever so popular primary school, Great Chart, which sees competition for places every year.
Because Singleton is a shared parish with Great Chart, residents can partake in sports from football to cricket to darts. Its location makes it a brilliant base for country walks – Great Chart village and the Godinton Estate is a 5 minute walk away and the environment centre offers woodland and copses. In addition to this, Singleton is set just off the A28 from Ashford to Tenterden – making Ashford and Tenterden’s services easy to reach. In fact, Singleton is also popular with London commuters because it offers peace but convenience – with a morning and evening coach-commute service.
Although a popular area, Singleton offers its residents so much solitude too. The calm and quiet protected area of Singleton Hill can see the North Downs in one direction and the Weald in the other. On a very, very clear day, the Kent coast can be visible too, making Singleton a lovely area to easily escape the bustle of life, without leaving.
